Community

Being a member of the Cormier Honors College has taught me a lot about community. Being in honors is incredible because even the first time I walked into wheeler , I was welcomed by at least 10 of my upperclassmen peers. As a freshman, I was so scared to commit to honors. Hundreds of questions ran through my head.”What if I’m not smart enough?” “What if I don’t make any friends?” “What if I can’t keep my GPA high enough?” But I knew the very first day of the honors retreat that I had found my home. Every single person in the CHC is kind, caring, and welcoming. I made six best friends just during the honors retreat, and I couldn’t imagine how I would have survived without them. My peers in the CHC are there to laugh, have fun, cry, or study with me at a moments notice. So to me, community comes from being surrounded by people just like me.
