Summary: Thinking Outside the Idiot Box

According to Dana Stevens, Steven Johnson’s article Watching TV makes you Smarter,
is complete bogus. Stevens claims that she did not understand his thesis. While Johnson thinks that watching complicated TV makes you smarter, Stevens argues that we are just watching complicated TV. She claims that Johnson easily dismisses the representation of Muslim terrorists and torture in the show¬†24. Stevens does believe that the show causes you to think – about future¬†24 episodes. At last, she comes to a realization. Stevens final argument brings to our attention that we should be able to watch whatever we want because we like the show, not because it will “make us smarter”.
