Contemporary Social Problems was a very engaging course for me. Each week, we were assigned a chapter from the book and a weekly reading response, and then we discussed that topic for the rest of the week. The topics ranged from education, to drugs and alcohol, to war and terrorism. In class, I got to listen to a variety of perspectives on each topic, and this was very thought provoking and made me see many topics and ideas differently. For our final, we had to write a research paper pertaining to any social issue that interested us. This helped me understand my chosen issue, gender inequality in sports, in many different layers. Here is my weekly reading response on education:
