Goal 1: Longwood Seminar (LSEM 100)
Longwood Seminar was a vital course in my transition from high school to college. I learned about the University’s history and traditions as well as useful information about college courses. Since it was an Honors-specific course, I learned more about the Cormier Honors College as well.
Our assigned reading for the class, The Other Wes Moore: One Name, Two Fates, reflected the general topics of the class. In my reflection of the reading, I discussed how the demonstrated qualities of responsibility, self-sufficiency, and citizen leadership are important factors of educational success. Throughout the class, these qualities were tested through time management, self presentation, and community service. I believe that this class prepared me for the standards of college classes and introduced me to Longwood. However, I wish that we were able to receive more information about our individual majors, as other Longwood students receive through a major-specific LSEM class.
