Our most challenging assignment in this class was to present and critique an argument based on recreational drug use in America. Our first assignment involving applied ethics, I was nervous to use the knowledge I learned in class and actually utilize it in a heavily debated subject. My group was assigned the argument that if recreational drugs harm more than the user, then recreational drugs should be outlawed. Critiquing this argument proved to be more difficult than expected, as most of our protests against this argument were dismissed by the professor. In the end, this assignment showed how difficult it is to entirely prove something in ethics.
