Reflection:
The formal report assignment was a group project that required the analysis of three websites, all of which are in the same field. My group decided to focus on private practice speech and hearing clinics. We analyzed each of the websites based on their overall visual appeal, overall organization, and information on provided services. Completing this assignment satisfied all six English 470 course outcomes. The formal report required us to analyze and produce a professional document, required us to conduct research, required the use of proper formatting and design techniques, allowed us to work collaboratively, and practice oral communication. Also, by completing this assignment I have learned how to create team work logs, meeting minutes, and appropriate surveys. One difficult aspect of this assignment was only analyzing the three criteria, mentioned above. For this assignment, we had to appeal to a specific audience, specifically the company looking to redesign their website. To overcome problems presented by this project, we consulted the course textbook formal report example, as well as an example presented in class.
